Heart: The City Beneath is a grimy, infested game about delves deep beneath the earth into a wet meat heaven that will give you everything you want and everything you fear. This project was a dream to work on, particularly with my close relationship with illustrator Felix Miall. Working back and forth with each other, we created page layouts where the art and text flow into each other and interpenetrate in an unsettlingly organic fashion.
This book was nominated in the Best Layout category (as well as 10 others) for the 2020 Ennie Awards, for which it won the gold award.

The expansion books for Heart needed to stay within the established style while also demonstrating their own identity. To do this, I created a raft of specific graphics and text styles for café menus, underground train maps, typewritten journals and more.
